Shippers from the village!

Well done team! It genuinely pains me to have been trapped here with my beer and wonderful wife in Como while all this was going on! Good to see the bikes have gone off. Let's hope the shipper looks after them better than the track record to date!

Trapped as I am !

Bikes were due to be collected Wednesday, but by 5 o'clock and no sign of a lorry, I phoned the shipping company only to be told that the driver had "run out of hours" and wouldn't be able to make it.

Having waited all afternoon for this news, you will appreciate that I was far from happy and communicated this in true Tourettes style over the phone to the shippers although it didn't change anything - the bikes remain in the garage.

Collection is re-scheduled for tomorrow with an assurance that I will be give an ETA for the arrival of the lorry. Additionally the driver will call me an hour before he arrives.

Thurday 8am and I get a text from Kyle over at Martins house to say that the lorry is there and the driver wants to load!

I jump in the car and scream over there to find the first bike(mine) stuck on the tail-lift where the half-wit of a driver has overshot with the pallet truck.

Kyle and I struggle to pull the pallet truck back whilst village idiot lifts the wheels.

Having finally got mine on, Martins is dragged from the garage.

Crash Bars, Centre Stands and Chocolate!

Crash bars and centre stands have finally arrived although a week late and therefore necessitating a rendezvous with a Romanian in a white van in Golders Green to collect them!

Although well made, the instructions are poor and what I thought would be a two hour job takes five. Thankfully the Romanians have anticipated this and have included two bars of Romanian rum flavoured chocolate - chocolate presumably to keep the energy levels high and rum to dull the pain of countless skinned knuckles sustained trying to fit the things!
Martin, as you will be aware, is sunning himself alongside Lake Como; truly a blessing!

Saturday sees the transformation of my bike from this...............
To this...........
Martins is completed Sunday.....

and both bikes are now crated awaiting collection on Wednesday.

Pre-Crating
Early April and we have two Tenere's- sort of "his" and "hers'! Yes..I know... I am the girl! Anyway... they are both low mileage on an '09 plate and both blue. Paul's will have 'Long Way Round' extra spot lights. We are waiting for centre-stands and crash bars from Romania...funnily enough they are late. Paul will crate without me as I will be away. Carnets are in hand and everything is booked.
